During the bus trip from Nasca to Arepquipa, we saw a lot of military in the miner city where the road was blocked earlier due to strike. We went through without trouble. We had a great view from the bus trip since we were sitting in the first row of seats on the second deck of the bus.

We arrived in Arequipa (2500 meter of altitude) around midnight and spent the rest of the night in a bed and breakfast in Arequipa.
In the morning, we visited a museum which relate the story of 3 mommies discovered frozen at the top of a nearby volcano. These were all from the Inka civilisation. One of those mommy can be seen through the glass of big freezer in the museum together with hundreds of artefacts. Wow!
We then visited a monasteries. It is very huge, it is like a city with streets inside walls. Each nuns had their own little house made of a bed room, an open sky room and an oven. There was also a school, a few churches, and a water source inside.
We then took a taxi to a local restaurant that our tour leader has recommended. That restaurant is unknown to tourist but is very popular by the local population. I ate a fried ginny big; one of local speciality. There is the whole body there in your plate including the head, the big tooth and we can even notice the nail. It taste a bit like chicken but is different. I actually preferred goat from 1 or 2 days ago; which taste like porc.
From the observatory, we can see how many huge volcanos are surroundings this city. Not surprising, there are earthquake so often here.
Tonight, we might visit the city a bit.
Tomorrow we are going to colca canyon 🙂
