This was our last day in Sicily and we planned to drive 250km, hike, swim, and visit a city. Mission almost impossible. Especially, since it rained during the first half and we didn’t want to start a hike in those conditions. Still, for some reason, we sticked to the original plan and drove in the middle of nowhere through the smallest possible roads, submerged in water.
We made it to Cavagrande, it was like the grand canyon. The rain almost stopped. We can see the river at the bottom of the canyon. We took a few pictures and soon noticed that the clouds were disapearing and the sun was back. We decided to put on our hiking boots, and hike down.
The nice thing about this river are the deep pond at the bottom of each fall were we could swim.
Once we were done swimming, we actually needed to hike the 2km trail up the 400m cliff to get back to our car. No pain, no gain. 🙂
Next destination was Siracusa. We had a Pizza in the old town and visited for 2 hours. It was very nice.
